Excellent Junior level college text

The first 6 chapters cover the basics of analyzing RLC networks. Chapters 7 thru 10 give a good introduction to semiconductor devices, amplifiers, and analog signal processing. Chapters 11 and 12 are a way too brief coverage of digital electronics (and is fast becoming dated material). Chapters 13 to 16 cover the basic concepts of magnetic circuits, AC motors, etc. Chapter 17 is a hodge podge introduction to some advanced material.
The text requires/uses basic calculus and complex numbers. There are lots of examples to explain each concept as it is introduced. The circuit analysis techniques developed in the first 5 chapters will be used throughout the students career. These chapters are very well laid out, leading the student along from one basic point to the next in a logical manner, and make this an excellent textbook. The sections on semiconductor devices and amplifiers are a little dated, but still cover basic relevant information. An example of where the text is dated is in the section on two-port networks which does not even mention S-parameter circuit models.

Fair to Middling

This is a generally well written book, easy to read (though I think the author overuses the word "ensure(d)" by a considerable margin). On the other hand, there is not a single map in the book. This may be little or no problem for a WWII afficianado, who likely has the requisite maps in his or her head, but could cause major annoyances for others, who will need a good atlas at the ready. Though primarily a military history as claimed, this is not the type of military history that focuses on the individual soldier. In fact, few military formations below the level of army group (= Russian front) are named or their movements discussed. This is definitely broad sweep military history. But some relatively obscure actions are given more space than one might expect: for example the Madagascar campaign is given half a page. On the other hand, the much longer South Pacific campaigns are relegated to a couple of pages. Author's choice, I suppose. There is some discussion of the home fronts, particularly the submarine war against England, and the bombing campaign against Germany. Munich and the lead-up to the war are covered in fair detail. All in all, an interesting read, though not the best book for the novice.

About the Author
Jan Dobraczynski was born in Warsaw in 1910, and was educated both at school and university there. His first book "Bernanos the Novelist" was published in 1937. At the outbreak of war he fought as a captain in the cavalry and was wounded. He subsequently spent the war years in political underground activity, being co-editor of two underground periodicals. He was taken prisoner in the Warsaw Uprising in 1944 and had been sent to Belsen and other concentration camps. During World War II, as the head of the Division for Abandoned Children at the Warsaw municipal welfare department, Jan Dobraczynski helped Zegota activists place Jewish children in convents. On his release in 1945 he returned to Poland and spent his life in Warsaw, where he died in 1994. He held the rank of general in the Polish military.He has written over 50 novels, one play, 4 tales, 24 studies, and essays. His greatest successes have been "The Letters of Nicodemus", "The Shadow of the Father", "God's Miser", and "Jesus Christ and His Apostles". Several of his books have been translated into English, French, German, Spanish, Czech, Slovak, and Italian.

I bough this book as a gift since I already read and I really loved it.
Unfortunately the book edition format is very poor: the font is super small, I barely can read it, while there is a huge margin around it. There is no a new page for the new chapter and the text is not even justified. It looks like they just copied it on Word and printed it, trying to save ink and pages.

It really doesn't worth the price.
